Dale Keep, President Ice and Snow Technologies, Inc. |
|
Dale worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for 26 years before his retirement when he entered into the consulting market. His DOT experience included working snow and ice on a statewide basis, with experience at the field level, management level, and headquarters. Dale was also one of the original members of the PNS (Pacific Northwest SnowFighters) and was instrumental in the writing of their original deicer specifications and testing protocol. He was a member of the ongoing FHWA Anti-Icing Outreach Program as one of four “Ice Warriors”, assisting agencies with equipment specifications, deicer selections, and their correct use. Dale has served as a member of the HITEC and EVTECH Committees through CERF (Civil Engineering Research Foundation) where they evaluated environmental and performance issues associated with deicers commonly being used. Since leaving WSDOT Dale has spent considerable time working with snow and ice control personnel and companies in both the private and public sector, insurance companies, oil companies, and large manufacturing and research companies to name a few. With these experiences, Dale has a wide variety of knowledge and expertise, including identifying challenges, answering the challenge, and then developing and presenting the training program to meet that challenge. Some areas of expertise include deicer selection and use, brine systems, equipment selection and use, and the purchase and operation of snow makers. If it has something to do with snow and ice, the odds are very high that Dale has had experience with it. Dale has authored numerous reports and articles for publication, assisted in research projects, and still regularly writes articles for the Snow and Ice Management Association (SIMA) for publication in their magazine. He often is a presenter at many conferences with presentations to Federal Highway Administration ( FHWA), American Public Works Association (APWA), American Association of State Highway Traffic Officials (AASHTO), SIMA and other private sector organizations. Dale has experience working with both government agencies and private sector companies on an international basis. |
